Firm-wide uses all records available to your role. Selecting a client limits answers to that client and firm documents. Changing context starts a new conversation.

Set how KYC Desk writes answers, here and through the MCP ask_question tool. These rules do not change access, evidence requirements or fee calculations. Connected assistants may rephrase the tool's answer; raw search and fetch results do not apply these rules.
Firm defaults apply to every KYC Desk answer. Client rules add to these defaults and take precedence where they conflict.
For answers using the firm's rules, ask your assistant to call ask_question. For client rules, it must also pass context_client_id. Search and fetch return raw evidence; your assistant may rephrase any answer it receives.
Copy it now. You won't see this token again. The steps below already contain it.
Create a token first. Until then the steps show <your token> where it goes.
Trust the desk's certificate. Run this once in Terminal, in the folder where the desk is installed:
Start Claude Code from a terminal where NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS is set, or add the export line to your shell profile.
Run this in Terminal:
Check it with claude mcp list: the desk shows as orion-kyc … Connected. Then start claude and ask a question.
Check that Node.js is installed: run node --version in Terminal. If it isn't, install it from nodejs.org.
In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Developer → Edit Config. In the file that opens, claude_desktop_config.json, add this entry inside "mcpServers" (if the file is empty, paste all of it):
Replace YOUR_NAME with your macOS user name, and export the certificate first (Claude Code tab, step 1).
Quit Claude Desktop completely (Claude → Quit) and open it again. The desk's tools appear under the + button in a new chat, under the name orion-kyc.
Settings → Connectors → "Add custom connector" won't work for a desk on your computer: Claude connects to custom connectors from Anthropic's servers, which can't reach it. Use it once the desk has a public HTTPS address.
If Claude Desktop reports that it can't start npx, replace "npx" with the full path that which npx prints in Terminal.
ChatGPT connects from OpenAI's servers, so it can't reach a desk running on this computer. It works once the desk has a public HTTPS address, or through OpenAI's Secure MCP Tunnel. Ask whoever runs the desk to set that up.
You need a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace. On Business only admins and owners can add a custom MCP server; on Enterprise, members an admin has authorised.
In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server. Enter the name orion-kyc and this server address:
For authentication, choose a request header and enter:
If your workspace only offers OAuth sign-in, the desk needs single sign-on before ChatGPT can connect.
Accept the risk notice, select Create as a plugin, and check that the desk's tools are listed. In a chat, type @ and pick orion-kyc. The ChatGPT desktop app uses the same plugin.
